Air fryers have come a long way from small baskets designed mainly for chips. As a team of air fryer converts here at Good Food, we have been lucky enough to test dozens of models, from compact single-drawer machines to family-sized dual-zone designs. Recently we’ve seen the launch of some exciting new machines, including Smeg’s stylish 7-litre air fryer and Ninja’s CRISPi DualZone 8-in-1 model, which uses two glass cooking zones.
We are now excited to see that Our Place has unveiled the Wonder Oven Pro, a larger and more advanced follow-up to its popular countertop oven which was released in 2024. Available from today for £295, it’s designed to handle far more than a basket of frozen chips. Our Place claims the Pro preheats 60% faster and cooks food up to 40% faster than a traditional oven, while digital controls let you set the time and temperature precisely.
The headline upgrade is capacity. The Wonder Oven Pro has a 30-litre interior, three rack positions and enough room for a whole chicken, roast potatoes and even Yorkshire puddings – that’s Sunday lunch sorted. You can also cook several dishes at once, which sounds very useful when you’re trying to get a big meal on the table without turning the kitchen into a traffic control centre.
There are eight cooking modes: air fry, bake, roast, toast, grill, reheat, proof and dehydrate. That means you could use it for everything from crispy chicken wings and roasted vegetables to sourdough, homemade granola and a tray of muffins.
I’m especially interested in the baking settings. Many air fryers are brilliant at crisping food but less convincing when it comes to proper baking, so having a larger oven-style cavity should make this more versatile for you if you want one appliance to cover breakfast to dessert and weekend projects, be it sourdough loaves, elaborate enriched doughs or even more ambitious bakes.
Limp and lifeless leftovers may also be a thing of the past. The Wonder Oven Pro features a special steam infusion technology, meaning that during cooking or reheating, it adds moisture to help keep the centre of food soft and tender while the outside stays crisp. For me this could be the real game-changer. Reheating pizza, pastries or yesterday’s roast chicken often leaves you choosing between a soggy exterior and a dried-out middle but a burst of steam should give these leftovers a new lease of life.
Available in the brand’s signature colours of Blue Salt, Char and Steam, this new air fryer would make a stylish addition to any kitchen counter. It also handily comes with a basket, bake pan, wire racks and crumb tray, plus accessories such as the Baker’s Kit and Chef’s Kit. The main question is whether you have enough worktop space – this is a genuine countertop oven, not a gadget you’ll casually tuck in a cupboard.
Still, if you want to roast, bake, toast and reheat without even thinking of switching on your full-sized oven, the Wonder Oven Pro could be one of the most tempting air fryer launches of the year, albeit at the pricier end of the scale. We certainly can’t wait to try it out.
