TRUCKEE, Calif. — Sierra Senior Services welcomed Chef Maurice Palacios as the organization’s new Executive Chef and Nutrition Programs Manager, supporting the nonprofit’s Meals on Wheels and senior nutrition programs serving Truckee and the North Lake Tahoe region.
Chef Palacios brings a strong background in leadership, culinary expertise, and service to Sierra Senior Services’ mission of providing nutritious meals and meaningful connection to local seniors.
Before beginning his culinary career, Chef Palacios proudly served in the United States military, ultimately achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class after serving within the elite Ranger Regiments. Following his military service, he pursued his passion for food by attending the French Culinary Institute in New York City, where he studied Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts. His training also included an externship at the renowned French Laundry.
Most recently, Chef Palacios served as Executive Chef at Greater Nevada Field, home of the Reno Aces, where he led a culinary team of more than 50 professionals and became known for mentorship, leadership, and team development.

Chef Palacios will oversee meal preparation and nutrition programming for the organization, including Meals on Wheels home delivered meals and congregate dining services throughout the region.
Sierra Senior Services provides Meals on Wheels, congregate dining, and senior nutrition programs for older adults throughout Truckee and the North Lake Tahoe region.
