AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Local families gained access to health care and wellness resources on Saturday at a community event hosted by Cutter’s Resource Closet and Sons of Consolation Ministries.
The Community Hope and Wellness Fair brought together two organizations working to ensure everyone has access to needed care through a new facility.
Cutter’s Resource Closet provides donated medical supplies to underserved communities.
“For medically underinsured people, we are the ones who provide that equipment to the hospital,” said Cutter Mitchell of Cutter’s Resource Project. “There are people that get stuck in a hospital for a week or two weeks just because they don’t have the equipment that they need to meet the safe discharge standards to go home, and a lot of times it’s something basic or simple for us to provide.”
The event also featured live music, food giveaways, games and kids activities.
